Together with our sister institutes in Europe organized within the network of Institutes for Advanced Studies (NetIAS), we launched the 2023 call for proposals for research groups – Constructive Advanced Thinking – in short CAT. Now, the winner CAT groups were selected.

We congratulate Jolle Jolles (Alumnus / Dept. of Biology) who has just started a permanent (senior) researcher position at the “Blanes Centre for Advanced Studies” (CEAB) in Blanes, Spain.

The latest call for applications for ZUKOnnect Fellowships has closed (application deadline was on 15 February 2024). We have received 164 applications in total, of which - after a formal eligibility check - 74 are eligible (27 female, 1 other).

We congratulate Sasha Kosanic (Alumna / Dept. of Biology) who has accepted a position as Senior Lecturer in Climate Change Ecology at Liverpool John Moores University, UK, at the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences.

We congratulate Alumnus Karsten Lambers: In January 2024, he was appointed as Professor of Digital and Computational Archaeology at the Faculty of Archaeology at the University of Leiden, Netherlands.

The Zukunftskolleg is pleased to announce a new call for Zukunftskolleg Konnect (ZUKOnnect) Fellowships. The ZUKOnnect Fellowships support early career researchers from Africa, Asia and Latin America related to one of the thirteen departments of the University of Konstanz. Application deadline is 15 February 2024.

This year's Manfred Ulmer Fellowship is awarded to ZUKOnnect Fellow Israel Ehizuelen Ebhohimen from the Department of Biology.

From 10-12 October 2023, the European Institutes of Advanced Study met in Konstanz for their annual meeting of Netias (Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study) to foster cooperation between institutions.

Elisa Deiss-Helbig is a new Research Fellow from the 17th call for applications for fellowships. She has started her fellowship on 1 October and is affiliated with the Department of Politics and Public Administration.

We congratulate Violeta Ivanova Rohling (Postdoctoral Fellow / Physics) who has received a grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG) for her project „Deep learning methods with symmetry priors for problems in quantum computing“.

The Scientific Advisory Board just spent two days at the Zukunftskolleg and gave us advice for our future development.
