Making the Way towards the Political Analysis of a Public Policy - How to make sense of the VET Policies in Turkey
Jour Fixe talk by Ezgi Pinar on July 5, 2017
Ezgi Pinar is a Bridge Fellow of the Zukunftskolleg affiliated with the Department of Politics and Public Administration.
In her talk, Ezgi introduced her research titled “Questioning the Hegemonic Potential of VET Policies in Turkey” and her motivation behind studying this topic. In her research, she aims to understand a current and popular issue in Turkey with political terms. The issue of vocational and technical education is usually understood with a technical approach within the confinements of the link between economics and education. In her research, Ezgi questions this approach and provides an analysis of the vocational educational policy with a different conceptual setting than given by the state theories in general. Her effort is to interpret the vocational and technical education issue with reference to concepts such as hegemonic project and accumulation strategy.
