The University of Konstanz strives to provide accessibility to its websites and mobile applications in line with § 10 paragraph 1 L-BGG (Landesbehindertengleichstellungsgesetzes = act on equal opportunities for the disabled).
This accessibility information applies to the website www.uni-konstanz.de.
1. Current accessibility
The University of Konstanz is continuously expanding the accessibility of its websites’ content. Due to technical limitations of the central website and the framework conditions of configurable web applications, we cannot fulfil all the requirements at the moment. The central website and mobile applications comply in parts with § 10 paragraph 1 L-BGG.
2. Non-accessible contents
The following content and functionalities are not compatible with § 10 paragraph 1 L-BGG:
There may be limitations when using the navigation structure of websites or web applications:
- Some of the websites and applications cannot be used without a mouse
- In the second level of the menu, users cannot tap the escape key to close the menu
- When using the keyboard to navigate carousel elements, it is not clear where the keyboard focus is located
- The names, roles and values of interactive navigation elements in the main menu currently cannot be recognized by screen readers
- Individual navigation elements have not yet been labelled in such a way that they can be understood by people with visual impairments
Other accessibility limitations:
- To some extent, no alternative texts for graphics, images or graphics-based navigation elements exist
- There are still some errors in the programming language, which can pose difficulties for screen readers
- Not all video formats contain audio descriptions
- The pdfs offered do not fulfil accessibility requirements

To ensure that the website www.uni-konstanz.de complies with the requirements set out in § 10 paragraph 1 L-BGG you can write to kum@uni-konstanz.de. You can find the contact details under item 4 on this website.
If you do not receive an answer to your inquiry from the University of Konstanz within the time limit specified in § 8 sentence 1L-BGG-DVO, or the answer is not satisfactory, you can call on the office of the state representatives for persons with disabilities (Landes-Behindertenbeauftragte) Baden-Württemberg to act as ombudsperson or a person authorised by the municipality to represent the interests of persons with disabilities as set out in § 14 paragraph 2 sentence 2 L-BGG and § 15 paragraph 3 sentence 2 L-BGG. You can find out the contact details of your local authority representative for the interests of people with disabilities on the website of the city or district in which you have your permanent residence.
You can also seek arbitration proceedings in accordance with Section 10b. An arbitration procedure is free of charge and pursues the goal of finding a solution out of court together with the help of the arbitration board (in German).
