Criteria for the accreditation potential of study programmes

The University of Konstanz has system accreditation. It is responsible for guaranteeing the accreditation potential of its study programmes.

When designing the study programmes, it is importat that the qualification goals for the study programmes and individual modules are described precisely.

Study programmes, modules and exams must focus on teaching competencies.

Furthermore, there are various formal criteriathat the study programmes have to abide by. The most important criteria are listed on this page.

Credit points (ECTS credits)

Total points required for bachelor study programmes

Bachelor programme with 6 semesters = 180 credits (8 semesters = 240 credits)

Total points required for master study programmes

Master with 4 semesters = 120 credits (2 semesters = 60 credits)

Distribution of credit points during the study year

Per study year = 60 credits (30 per semester). Deviations are possible, with a maximum of 3 credits per semester (30 ± 3 credits)

  • preferably only one examination per module
  • module examinations are usually incorporated into the final grade

  • maximum of 5-6 examinations per semester

Bachelor programmes: 6-12 credits

Master programmes: 15-30 credits

Standards for the University of Konstanz

Bachelor programmes: completion in approximately 5-9 weeks; up to 20% of the final grade

Master programmes: completion in approximately 3-6 months; up to 50% of the final grade

Mobility

Legal provisions:

The recognition of credits earned abroad according to the Lissabon Convention

Guidelines of the University of Konstanz:

either an obligatory semester abroad

or a presentation of a mobility windowthat will allow the student to go abroad for a semester without the loss of study time.

International study programmes

- the accreditation is checked

- participation in the framework agreement of the ENQA

- if applicable, verification through external experts
