Mobility
The university is located on Konstanz’s Giessberg hill. To get to the university, you can either take the bus or cycle. The university is also easy to reach by car.
Bus
You can use bus lines 9A and 9B to travel from the city centre and main train station to the university; the same applies to the ring bus line 4/13 resp. 13/4, which reaches the university via the bus stop Konstanz/Egg. You can also reach us directly by bus line 11 from Wollmatingen station or from the ferry in Konstanz/Staad. Please download the timetables of the bus lines.
Student-Tickets and D-Ticket JugendBW (for younger people)
All information about the online orderable D-Ticket JugendBW, which is also valid for students up to the age of 27. As proof, please upload your current certificate of enrolment from the University of Konstanz as a PDF file during the ordering process; a physical stamp and/or signature from us is not required. The completed order form can also be submitted by email together with the certificate of enrolment.
In cooperation with the Seezeit Bodensee Student Services and the public transportation network in the region, students may purchase a Student-Ticket of the Stadtwerke Konstanz in order to use the public transportation system of Konstanz at a reduced price. This Student-Ticket for the city of Konstanz is valid for travel within city limits and on the ferry between Konstanz/Staad and Meersburg. You can find all information about the tariffs on the Stadtwerke Konstanz website (municipal services in Konstanz; in German).
In addition to the Student-Ticket for the city of Konstanz, you can purchase a further Student-Ticket for the larger VHB (regional transportation network service provider) as an upgrade. This VHB-Student-Ticket is valid for all train and bus travel (2nd class) in the entire VHB transportation network. For further information, please visit the VHB Student-Ticket website (in German).
Note: On campus, you can easily buy both Student-Tickets directly at the Seezeit-Shop on level A5.
For all students: Free bus transportation after 19:00!
All enrolled students in Konstanz are allowed to use public transportation for free starting at 19:00 p.m. The special "Nachtschwärmer" (night owl buses) are excepted. This service is covered by the solidarity fee all students pay each semester.
Bicycle
Do you need a bike for yourself or for your guests? Through the Student Body (StuVe) bike rental service, students and university employees can rent bikes for a limited period of time. International students can rent them for a longer period. On the website of the StuVe Self-Help Bike Shop and Bike Rental you will find the online booking system and additional information about pricing, deposit etc. You will also find information on the self-help bike shop, where you can repair your bike, purchase replacement parts and receive a helping hand.
Travel by car
You can park your car on one of the three parking lots or in a parking garage run by the "Parkraumgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH" (state parking services): the parking spaces "Uni Nord", "Uni Ost", Uni-Sport" (parking spaces at Uni north/Uni East/Uni-Sport) as well as the parking garage "Süd" (south parking garage). You can park your car for 1,50 euro per day.
