Admission requirements
In order to begin a master's study programme at the University of Konstanz, you will require a first degree from a university or Berufsakademie (vocational academy), for example, a bachelor’s degree. Most study programmes at the University of Konstanz are consecutive programmes that build on each other. Thus, you are usually required to have completed a first study programm in a related field in order to be admitted to a particular master's programme.
Important!
If you have not yet completed your first degree, please submit proof of your completed coursework and academic performance assessments, including your current grade point average, along with your application. You can then be provisionally admitted and enrolled.
Admission is permitted on a conditional basis, with the expectation that you will complete your studies before the start of your master's study programme. The degree certificate and examination certificates can be submitted up to two months after the start of your first master’s study.
If you have completed your first degree outside of Germany, then check whether the examination certificate from your home country is accepted in Germany by visiting the web page of the Kultusministerkonferenz (Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany).
Further entry requirements - for example, a relevant grade point average or language skills- depend on the specific study programme.

Requests for special consideration
I would like to submit a request for consideration as a hardship case.
If the numbers of applicants is larger than the available space in study programme, then a selection process will take place. 5% of all available study placements are reserved for applicants who experienced exceptional personal hardship. If this applies to you, you may submit a request for consideration as a hardship case.
How do I apply?
Complete the online application and upload the required application documents to ZEuS.
On the pages of the University of Konstanz' study programmes you will also find information on which documents you have to upload as part of the online application. If your documents are not available in German or English, you will need to have them translated. Please submit a German or English translation of your documents along with the original versions.
Do I have to submit separate applications for some study programmes?
If your are interested in applying for the Early Childhood study programme, please submit your application to the Pädagogischen Hochschule Thurgau (pedagogical university Thurgau) directly.

How many study programmes may I apply for?
You can apply for admission to two study programmes. If you are accepted by both study programmes, then you need to select one of the two.
How can I check my application status?
You will receive a confirmation email once your online application has been submitted. The University of Konstanz will inform you via email when your application's status changes.
Additionally, you can visit the “My Studies” section of the ZEuS application portal to check your application status.
When will I be admitted to the University of Konstanz?
If you applied for a study programme without admission restrictions
If you fulfil the admission requirements, you will be admitted to the programme. The university will send you a letter requesting that you officially accept the offer of admission. This process usually involves paying the fees for the first semester of study and submitting any remaining missing documents. The university will then enrol you.
You will also find information about registration in your letter of admission.
You can enrol by registering via ZEuS and then requesting enrolment. Afterwards, you will need to pay the enrolment fees and submit any missing documents (e.g. proof of student health insurance), as described in the letter of admission. To confirm your official enrolment, please log into ZEuS. At the beginning of the semester, you can pick up your student ID card at the SSZ.
If you applied for a study programme with admission restrictions
If you fulfil the admission requirements, you will then take part in the university’s internal selection process. The university will send you a letter of admission if you are selected. You will need to officially accept the offer of admission within a certain period of time (usually 9 to 14 calendar days). This process usually involves paying the enrolment fees for the first semester of study and submitting any remaining missing documents. If payment is late or has not been received by the deadline, your offer of admission will be rescinded. After accepting the offer of admission, you will be enrolled by the university.

What can I do if I have not been admitted?
If you were not admitted to a study programme with admissions restrictions, you will automatically take part in the waiting list admission process. This process assigns study placements that were rejected by others to applicants on the waiting list. In some cases, several rounds of waiting list admissions are necessary to completely fill a study programme. You may still receive an offer of admission up to several weeks after the semester has started!
