Chancengleichheitsgesetz (equal opportunity law)
The Chancengleichheitsgesetz (equal opportunity law) aims to promote equal opportunity among women and men working in public service, to increase the number of women in leading positions and to create suitable framework conditions that allow mothers and fathers to balance their professional responsibilities with their family life.
Mutterschutzgesetz (maternity protection act)
The maternity protection period starts six week prior to the anticipated date of birth. New mothers are not allowed to work during the first eight weeks after the birth of their child/children. Employees are subject to the Gesetz zum Schutze der erwebstätigen Mutter (law on the protection of working mothers). The Verordnung über den Mutterschtz für Beamtinnen (regulation on maternity protection for civil servants) applies to civil servants.
Paid leave to care for a sick child

Part-time work
To enable you to work while raising a family, the university offers flexible arrangements as regards working hours and location.
You can reduce your weekly working hours, share your job, telework and use working time accounts. Please read more about this in the Gesetz über Teilzeitarbeit und befristete Arbeitsverträge (law on part-time work and fixed-term employment contracts).
Discrimination - sexual harassment

The Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz (AGG) (general law on equal opportunity) protects all employees. In addition, the university has passed guidelines to combat discrimination and sexual violence that apply to all its members. They describe various forms of discrimination, the persons responsible for dealing with cases of discrimination, as well as various measures and sanctions that victims have recourse to.
