Contact person for anti-discrimination

at the University of Konstanz according to the State University Act of 2021

The contact person for anti-discrimination at the University of Konstanz shall be responsible for the prevention and clarification of discrimination. She is not bound by instructions in this function. In the LHG Baden-Württemberg (§ 4a para. (2)), dimensions of discrimination such as those based on racist grounds, ethnic origin or (assumed or actual) religious and ideological identity are mentioned, which the contact person deals with.

In addition, incidents of discrimination on the grounds of disability, illness or mental impairment, gender identities and sexual orientations, age and socio-economic origin, migration, flight and other stigmatisation are also to be followed up at the University of Konstanz in this function. The task of the anti-discrimination contact person is furthermore to consult the persons responsible for anti-discrimination counselling and, if necessary, to intervene in serious cases. Affected persons are asked to first contact the anti-discrimination counsellors in the Department for Equality, Family Support and Diversity for initial, follow-up and referral counselling, who will support the anti-discrimination counsellor in her function:

The contact person for anti-discrimination at the University of Konstanz is Prof. Dr. Theodoros Marinis, Professor of Multilingualism and Director of the Centre for Multilingualism at the University of Konstanz. Through his research on language acquisition among families with a migration background, neurodiverse individuals and children with language development disorders, and due to his personal experience as a person with a migration background, he is familiar with the topic of discrimination and supports the university and its members through his role as contact person for anti-discrimination.
