It is growing ever more important for researchers to also provide documentation of teaching competencies .
The “Baden-Württemberg-Zertifikat für Hochschuldidaktik” (Baden-Württemberg certificate for university didactics) documents your teaching expertise. It is issued by the responsible state ministry.
The “Baden-Württemberg-Zertifikat für Hochschuldidaktik” (Baden-Württemberg certificate for university didactics) is offered in cooperation with the Hochschuldidaktikzentrum Baden-Württemberg (HDZ) and is issued by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.
Conditions
The certificate programme is available exclusively to researchers who teach at or are affiliated with a university in Baden-Württemberg. The module-based programme can be customised to fit individual preferences and completed within two years. However, there is no time limit. There is no need to register for the entire certificate programme. Simply select the workshops you are interested in and register for them. This will automatically enrol you in the certificate programme. Please note: The eligibility requirements set out by the Hochschuldidaktikzentrum Baden-Württemberg (HDZ) and the Academic Staff Development unit respectively apply to all workshops offered in the context of the certificate programme as well as to the programme in its entirety. If you have questions regarding the details, please contact Astrid Werner from the main office of the HDZ. In principle, you can complete the certificate in German or in English.
Cooperation between universities in Baden-Württemberg
Thanks to the collaboration between universities across Baden-Württemberg, you can take part in the HDZ’s state-wide programme and attend university didactics workshops at all universities across the state. The sole exceptions are the basic “Fit für die Lehre” (fit for teaching) workshops, which you must attend at your home university. The annual programme of the HDZ is available on their events pages.
Quality standards
The Hochschuldidaktikzentrum Baden-Württemberg (HDZ) and its certificate programme are accredited by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hochschuldidaktik.
The University of Konstanz has also committed to the quality standards of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hochschuldidaktik. For you as participants this means that we recognise university didactics assessments completed at other participating institutions in a fuss-free manner, ensuring your mobility within Germany while you complete the certificate programme. In addition, the certificate, which is recognised across Germany, offers more transparency to prospective and current participants as regards the quality standards of our continuing education programmes and final certificates.

This module focuses on basic university didactics methods.
- Module II
You will attend in-depth workshops covering our university didactics curriculum.
- Module III
You are free to set your own priorities and will create your teaching portfolio or complete a project.
