The Committee on Curricular Affairs and Life-Long Learning (ALW) is a university body that advises the Rectorate and the Senate on all issues regarding teaching and the development of the university teaching profile. It focuses primarily on giving recommendations about establishing, amending and dissolving study programmes and distributing current and project-related teaching funds. The committee helps develop continuing education opportunities at the University of Konstanz.
The ALW plays a central role within the framework of the quality management system (QMS). The committee develops guidelines for evaluating teaching and studies and receives the aggregated results of course evaluations. New study programmes are assessed for compliance with quality and accreditation criteria. Furthermore, the ALW evaluates the quality of individual study programmes and, where applicable, makes recommendations to the departments, Rectorate or Senate that can improve and advance the study programmes.
