Further educational, extra-occupational bachelor's programme requiring completed vocational training as a physiotherapist or ergotherapist.

This programme acquaints students with the whole spectrum of modern motoric neurorehabilitation. You will gain a basic understanding of neurological disease patterns as well as the societal and institutional framework conditions of rehabilitation in the health system. In addition to this, you will learn how to use current findings from various disciplines and to optimise them for the specific patient.
The extra-occupational motoric neurorehabilitation bachelor's programme at the University of Konstanz conveys scientifically grounded competencies that are of growing medical importance, together with its specialised sports science group and in close cooperation with the Kliniken Schmieder in Konstanz.

The bachelor's programme has a modular structure. It comprises a total of 15 modules in all fields relevant to motoric neurorehabilitation. During your studies you will expand and deepen your existing specialist knowledge and broaden your scope of applicable skills in close conjunction with research. In the first year of study you will focus especially on basic scientific knowledge of motoric-neurological rehabilitation as well as the framework conditions of medical care. You will also learn scientific work methods, discuss the current status of research and reflect on treatment concepts in neurorehabilitation. The second year of study provides an extensive overview of the new and classic methods of therapeutic interventions in motoric neurorehabilitation.
Observation sessions in related areas of medical care help you to deepen your understanding of processes in the care of patients and to learn how to optimise cooperation and treatment pathways in professional practice. In the third year of study the competencies you have now acquired will be combined in supervised specialised internships and deepened with specific theoretical teaching contents.  At the end of the third study year you will conclude your degree with a bachelor's thesis.

Internships and stays abroad

Internship

During your third year of study you will apply your acquired knowledge and skills in supervised professional internships. You will reflect on your therapeutic activities together with practical and scientific supervisors and fellow students.

Stay abroad

A period of study abroad is highly recommended. Equivalent study and exam achievements acquired during your stay will be recognised. Admission requirements for studying

  • Professional qualification in physiotherapy or ergotherapy and
  • at least one year of professional experience and
  • General or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or aptitude test*

*Since the winter semester 2011/2012 prospective students with at least two years of vocational training and (usually) 3 years of work experience can acquire their subject-specific higher education entrance qualification via an aptitude test. The test is based on § 59 para. 2 Landeshochschulgesetz (state law on education) in the Berufstätigenhochschulzugangsverordnung -BerufsHZVO- (regulation on university entrance for working persons).

Semester fee
All students enrolled at the University of Konstanz are charged a semester fee each semester, similar to all other German universities. Here you can find the current semester fee and its individual components.

Tuition fees for first degree studies for certain international students
Since winter semester 2017/18, the state of Baden-Württemberg has required some international students to pay tuition fees for their first degree studies. The following students are not required to pay tuition fees: citizens of a country within the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), doctoral students and certain “Bildungsinländer” (e.g. non-EU citizens with a German “Abitur”). Each year, the University of Konstanz grants exemptions to a limited number of particularly gifted international degree-seeking students in accordance with the university’s “Begabtenbefreiungssatzung” (statutes governing the exemption of gifted students). Required language skills

You do not have to proof any foreign language skills.

German language skills
International applicants need documentation of their German language skills, level DSH-2 or TestDaF 4. Alternatively, other language tests or school certificates recognized as equivalent can be used as proof of the required German language skills. The University of Konstanz does not offer preparatory German language courses or approved German language exams. For this reason, you must submit accredited proof of your German language skills along with your application.

  • your Abitur certificate (German general higher education entrance qualification)
  • documentation of any volunteering you may have done (FSJ, FÖJ etc.)
  • any documentation about vocational training you may have completed
  • any other required documents (medical certificate etc.)
