Changes to the Hochschulstatistikgesetz
Following recent changes to the Hochschulstatistikgesetz (federal statistics law applying to institutions of higher education), German universities are required to collect additional data from their staff members. The University of Konstanz will act upon this new piece of legislation by conducting a staff survey.
The new “Gesetz zur Änderung des Hochschulstatistikgesetzes” (amendment to the federal statistics law) was passed on 2 March 2016 and has been in effect since 1 March 2016. By enacting this law, the federal government hopes to be able to supply relevant and necessary information to policy makers. Universities across the republic have therefore been requested to collect further data from their members of staff. The University of Konstanz will comply with the new legislation by issuing a new staff survey.
- In a first step, we will contact existing staff members via email (with the relevant questionnaire attached) to collect the requisite data.
- New members of staff will be handed a questionnaire with their employment contract, which must be completed and handed back to their contact person in Human Resources.
The new data consists mainly of additional information on ongoing qualification procedures. This data is not only relevant to policy makers in the states and on the federal level. It also provides the University of Konstanz with an overview of the current situation which we believe will prove of particular use to us in regard to the new Excellence Strategy and the university’s strategic aims for staff development and the advancement of junior researchers.
We therefore ask that all relevant members of staff complete the questionnaire as soon as possible!
Members of staff whose data we need to collect will receive an email in due course.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Catherine Lawal in Human Resources.
