Academic Affairs plays an active role in supporting the university’s strategic planning and the Rectorate. In this capacity, we provide support services for the three Vice-rectors for Academic Affairs, International Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and Research and Academic Staff Development as well as the Kanzler. Academic Affairs is directly responsible for implementing the university’s strategic aims and measures in close collaboration with the departments and other divisions and institutions.
Our team initiates and supports the university’s further structural development. We also contribute to the increasingly important field of applying for external funding by advising applicants on the topics of gender equality, the promotion of early career researchers and human resources development. Academic Affairs has been very successful at acquiring external funding from sources such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg (MWK), the Stifterverband and the Internationale Bodensee Hochschule (IBH). For this reason, in addition to our usual administrative responsibilities, we also coordinate projects that promote the university’s further structural development.
In the following areas, Academic Affairs heads up the university’s efforts to implement and create the necessary structures for legal requirements as well as to oversee transformational processes at the university guided by higher education policy:
- reforming study structures,
- advancing teaching competency and career opportunities for researchers at all career stages,
- promoting the intellectual, musical and sports activities of university students,
- supporting broader social developments, such as activities promoting international research and study,
- advancing human resources development,
- providing family support services,
- initiating auditing processes.
